The Directorate of Technical Education, Maharashtra has issued the notification for admissions to the “First year of full time post graduate courses in management for the year 2010-2011. The entrance test will be held on Sunday, February 21, 2010 at 2 pm. The sale of the Information Brochure and the Application Form from selected Post Offices in Maharashtra will start from, i.e. Monday, January 18, 2010 till Tuesday, February 2, 2010. The Submission of the completed forms should be done by Wednesday, February 3, 2010.

Eligibility
The eligibility criteria for the candidates to apply for the MBA entrance exam of MAH – CET 2010 is Bachelor’s Degree in a Full Time Course from any University recognized by Association of Indian Universities with minimum 50 per cent aggregate. Candidates belonging to the backward class categories belonging to Maharashtra state only should have 45 per cent minimum aggregate.

Students who are in the final year of their graduation and have appeared for their final exam are also eligible to apply.

For the academic year 2010-11, both the Maharashtra State and OMS candidates who have appeared/appearing for the CAT 2009 are considered eligible for admission against the All India Seats subject to the fulfillment of eligibility criteria mentioned in the Information Brochure. Such candidates are also required to procure the Information Brochure along with Application kit and submit & confirm the Online Application form.

For admission to MBA/MMS/PGDBM/PGDM course, the candidate is required to score minimum 30 marks in MAH MBA/MMS-CET 2010. Candidates seeking admission on the basis of CAT 2009 are required to obtain minimum equivalent score.

The result of the MAH CET 2010 entrance exam will be declared on Monday, April 5, 2010 at 5 pm.

The Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs), taking into notice the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2009 fiasco has come up with a resolution to make these exams a year long affair.

The aspiring management students now have a reason to cheer as they now would be allowed to take the entrance exams into the most coveted central government-run management schools all year long.

The decision will allow them to take the test any number of times, on any day.

The IIMs are heading towards a realm of changes as they also plan to make CAT a computer adaptive test, which means, the difficulty level of the test would be set according to the ability of the candidate.

According to IIM sources, the initial idea to hold the CAT throughout the year was mooted for 2009 but due to lack of question bank with the management schools the process could not be initiated.

XAT 2010 (Sunday, January 3, 2010)
Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT) on Sunday, January 3, 2010.  XAT is the entrance exam for Xavier Labour Relation Institute Jamshedpur, Xavier Institute of Management Bhubaneswar and other MBA institutes. The test will be held from 10 am to 12.30 pm

FMS 2010 (Sunday, January 10, 2010)
The next exam to follow is Faculty of Management Studies entrance exam. FMS 2010 is scheduled on Sunday, January 10, 2010. It is a two hour exam and will be held in 20 cities across India.

NMAT 2010 (Saturday, January 30 to Monday, February 8, 2010)
The next exam in the row is Narsee Monjee Aptitutde Test (NMAT), which is the entrance exam for Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) which will be an online test. It will be held in a 10 day window, starting from Saturday, January 30 to Monday, February 8, 2010. The duration of the exam is 150 minutes. The exam will be held in 19 centers across India apart from international test centers.

MAT (Sunday, February 7, 2010)
Management Aptitude Test (MAT), the entrance exam organized by AIMA, which is held four times a year, is scheduled for Sunday, February 7, 2010. As the test will be held in both paper pencil and computer based test, the computer based test will be held from Saturday, February 13 onwards.

ATMA (Sunday, February 14, 2010)
The next exam to look forward to is AIMS Test for Management Admissions (ATMA) which is scheduled on Sunday, February 14, 2010. This is a three hour exam with 170 questions. The last date for the sale of the application kit is Saturday, January 23, 2010 and the last date for online registration is Monday, January 25, 2010.

Most people dislike exams and could use a few exam tips to help them achieve better exam success. Almost everyone these days has to take exams. Whether we agree with it or not our society places so much emphasis on the importance of exams. And yet, despite this, many people have never really been told about how to pass exams and achieve exam success. After marking thousands of exam papers I’ve come realise how few people really know how achieve their true potential exam success.

Most peoples experience of exam tips probably extends to having been told to work hard so that they will remember a whole bunch of stuff on exam day. In itself that advice is not terribly useful. It doesn’t tell you how you’re going to rememer that stuff, or what steps you need to take to ensure you are well prepared when it comes to exam time. It’s as though we are just expected to somehow know by magic, without the need to be specifically taught how! How can you ever reach your true potential exam success if you don’t know how to revise effectively, how to prepare yourself, or what approach to take to your exam paper on exam day?

If you are serious about achieveing exam success you need to find out about exam and revision technique well in advance of any exams. Here are a few exam tips about some revision techniques, to get you started, and thinking about how to achieve exam success:

* Try to compile revision summaries throughout the course, not just at the end of it.
* Don’t confuse making a neat copy of your notes with revision. Such an exercise is likely to takes lots of time and you may well still have little idea of what’s in your notes when you’ve completed it! You should, however, make sure you have all the necessary information for revision, and that you understand it. You’ll remember things better if you understand them. If you get stuck with anything note down the problem so you can either look it up or ask about it later (your teacher, or a friend who “got that bit”).
* To make revision summaries divide each subject into topics and list the headings under each topic. In this way you’ll be creating an index of what needs revising as well as dividing your revision into easy to manage sections. Make revision notes of the key points for each heading. Use lesson summaries to guide you, if these were provided.
* Condense your notes by creating a list of headings with keywords for each point, selecting the most important points. You might want to make your revision notes as a series of summary cards.
* Some people remember better if they visualize what they are memorizing. If that’s you then make visually memorable notes: use colour, diagrams and mind maps, for example. You might even consider putting up posters of key information around your home.
* Note down each topic on your revision plan, to ensure that everything’s allotted revision time.
* Try to answer practice questions using only your revision notes. If you can’t then modify your notes. When you’re happy that you can answer questions from your notes revise from these.Eventually you should try and answer questions without the aid of your notes.
* At least once you should simulate an exam situation with ‘a set and timed examination paper’. The paper should be as near to the true exam format as possible. The easiest way to ensure this is so is to use a past exam or sample paper. This “mock” exam will not only test how much you know but also get you more used to the “exam atmosphere”, helping to reduce your anxiety about the “real thing”.
* Evaluate answers by checking them against your notes. Examine them to see how they could be improved. Highlight anything you missed, along with anything that’s incorrect. Re-revise this information.

The Common Admission Test (CAT) 2009 registrations are ending on October 1.
The Common Admission Test, CAT, which will be getting online, will be held from Nov 28 over a period of 10 days, to get over on Dec 7. The official notification regarding CAT came on Sunday.

The CAT will be an online test, for which a US-based firm has been hired by the IIMs. This firm will conduct the competitive exam across the country for candidates seeking admission to the prestigious B-schools.

The test will be conducted at 30 centres including Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Bhopal, New Delhi, Chennai, Kochi, Guwahati, Mumbai, Kolkata and Hyderabad, it said.

There are around 1,800 seats in the existing seven IIMs at Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Kolkata, Indore, Kozhikode, Lucknow and Shillong.

Besides IIMs, about 50 other reputed B-schools in the country give admission to students from the CAT merit list.

The results of the test will be announced on January 22 and can be accessed from the CAT website www.catiim.in.

d.  Register online early and schedule your exam location ASAP: Online registration for CAT 2009 will also begin on Wednesday, 9 September 2009 and end on Thursday, 1 October 2009.

e.  Choose your exam time:

A typical testing day for CAT will have 2 exam sessions. Candidates are allowed to schedule for any one of the sessions, subject to availability. Session timings are as follows:

Session 1: Testing will begin at 10 AM and end at 12:30 PM. Candidate check-in will commence from 8 AM. Candidates are required to arrive at the test center no later than 8:30 AM.

Session 2: Testing will begin at 3:30 PM and end at 6 PM. Candidate check-in will commence from 1:30 PM. Candidates are required to arrive at the test center no later than 2:00 PM.

f.  You must have a valid Photo ID :

According to IIMs you must present a valid (nonexpired) form of photo id before you can test. Acceptable forms of photo id include: driver’s license; passport; PAN card; voter ID; college ID; employee identification card; or a notarized Affidavit with photo, signature, date of birth and residential address.

The government has decided to set up 7 more IIMs — currently existing are 7 IIMs in Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Kolkata, Lucknow, Indore, Kozhikode and Shillong but due to reforms and changes in the industrial policies, there is a greater requirement for MBA’s.

They are in Tiruchirappalli in Tamil Nadu, Ranchi in Jharkhand, Raipur in Chhatisgarh, Rohtak in Haryana, Uttarkhand has not decided on the location and neither has Jammu and Kashmir, and the same goes for Rajasthan.

4 IIMs — Chatisgarh, haryana, Jharkhand and Tamil nadu will begin in 2009 and the rest will brgin in 2010. The total cost is Rs 451 crore. Initially there would be 140 students a year but finally 560 students will be admitted — it is a 2 year course, hence, the total students would be over 1000.

Postgraduate Programme (PGP) in Management would be the flagship programs at these new IIMs. Since the government notification categorically states that four IIMs will start their session in 2010 itself, does it mean that CAT 2009 will actually feature 11 IIMs! As the date for the CAT entrance exam notification nears this is one thing all MBA aspirants will watch out for.
