Most people dislike exams and could use a few exam tips to help them achieve better exam success. Almost everyone these days has to take exams. Whether we agree with it or not our society places so much emphasis on the importance of exams. And yet, despite this, many people have never really been told about how to pass exams and achieve exam success. After marking thousands of exam papers I’ve come realise how few people really know how achieve their true potential exam success.

Most peoples experience of exam tips probably extends to having been told to work hard so that they will remember a whole bunch of stuff on exam day. In itself that advice is not terribly useful. It doesn’t tell you how you’re going to rememer that stuff, or what steps you need to take to ensure you are well prepared when it comes to exam time. It’s as though we are just expected to somehow know by magic, without the need to be specifically taught how! How can you ever reach your true potential exam success if you don’t know how to revise effectively, how to prepare yourself, or what approach to take to your exam paper on exam day?

If you are serious about achieveing exam success you need to find out about exam and revision technique well in advance of any exams. Here are a few exam tips about some revision techniques, to get you started, and thinking about how to achieve exam success:

* Try to compile revision summaries throughout the course, not just at the end of it.
* Don’t confuse making a neat copy of your notes with revision. Such an exercise is likely to takes lots of time and you may well still have little idea of what’s in your notes when you’ve completed it! You should, however, make sure you have all the necessary information for revision, and that you understand it. You’ll remember things better if you understand them. If you get stuck with anything note down the problem so you can either look it up or ask about it later (your teacher, or a friend who “got that bit”).
* To make revision summaries divide each subject into topics and list the headings under each topic. In this way you’ll be creating an index of what needs revising as well as dividing your revision into easy to manage sections. Make revision notes of the key points for each heading. Use lesson summaries to guide you, if these were provided.
* Condense your notes by creating a list of headings with keywords for each point, selecting the most important points. You might want to make your revision notes as a series of summary cards.
* Some people remember better if they visualize what they are memorizing. If that’s you then make visually memorable notes: use colour, diagrams and mind maps, for example. You might even consider putting up posters of key information around your home.
* Note down each topic on your revision plan, to ensure that everything’s allotted revision time.
* Try to answer practice questions using only your revision notes. If you can’t then modify your notes. When you’re happy that you can answer questions from your notes revise from these.Eventually you should try and answer questions without the aid of your notes.
* At least once you should simulate an exam situation with ‘a set and timed examination paper’. The paper should be as near to the true exam format as possible. The easiest way to ensure this is so is to use a past exam or sample paper. This “mock” exam will not only test how much you know but also get you more used to the “exam atmosphere”, helping to reduce your anxiety about the “real thing”.
* Evaluate answers by checking them against your notes. Examine them to see how they could be improved. Highlight anything you missed, along with anything that’s incorrect. Re-revise this information.

Medical professionals, publishing professionals, real estate agents and tech support specialists are among the many who can benefit from an MBA degree and attain a more rewarding position in their existing career.

2. Change to a new career. The flexibility of today’s MBA programs provides prospective students with a myriad of options, from accounting to project management to international finance. If your current career doesn’t suit your interests and abilities, a graduate business degree can jump-start your job prospects in a new direction and give you valuable and marketable management skills.

3. Start your own business. An MBA program imparts the skills and knowledge necessary to be an entrepreneur and bring a new business to life. If you have the creativity, people skills and drive to start a business, a good graduate program will train you in critical areas like business planning, venture financing and small business management.

4. Grow your networking resources. One of the most valuable benefits to attending business school is the opportunity to network with fellow students, alumni and professors. These professional relationships can serve you well throughout your career, providing essential mentoring and contacts.

5. Increase your job security. The industry-specific knowledge and skills gained via an MBA degree program translate directly to increased job security. An MBA graduate is not only a desirable candidate at entry level, but also possesses the expertise to branch out or advance within an existing career.

1. Personality Development: The general aptitude that one has developed during his or her undergraduate studies will need to be translated into management ability. During the course of MBA studies, students learn various aspects of business activities and the intricate nuances involved.

2. Leadership Ability: Leadership abilities are not limited to those who born leaders. The characteristics of leadership such as composed nature, analytical abilities, an eye for detail and identifying winning strategies are instilled during the course of MBA. A manager is looked upon as a leader having vision and ability to lead from the front and by example. Six Sigma Professionals often have as much, if not more, leadership potential than newly-minted MBA’s.

3. Domain Expertise: An MBA is supposed to be a person of resource. If for example, marketing is your chosen field for MBA, you will deeply study the science of marketing and selling consumer and capital goods. This goal is also achieved by studying the psychology of the market as a whole as well as consumers. As an MBA student, you will also study how to quantify the market, budgeting and how to manage corporate finance.

1) First and foremost, think twice before you jump at the thought of taking up management as your career. You have to ask yourself whether you want to delve into finance, marketing, or human resources or maybe even corporate communications. You should be very clear in your mind about what you are looking for in management. Take enough time to do your homework – spend some time doing a few internships and some informational interviews. By doing this, you will be able to see what it is actually like and whether a career in management is suitable for your career objectives.

2) Make it a point to gain as much experience as possible before you enroll in graduate school and go ahead with your MBA. If you decide to go this route, you may have to take a break from school for three or more years, between college and enrolling in a business school. The advantage of this approach is that you will be able to carry your new experience into the classroom, which in turn will make your learning experience more significant.

3) Be selective about the school that you choose to acquire your MBA degree from. There are many schools to select from, and you should try to identify the right school for you, based on your profession. For some professions, the prestige of the school where you get your degree is important; for others, it is the location and the program that you choose to take.

4) Try to locate an excellent counselor or mentor. This is extremely important; a good mentor has ‘been there, done that’, and can help you avoid costly career missteps. As well, your mentor is someone that you can bounce your ideas off to make sure that you are headed in the right direction.

5) Consider using your management training to flourish in your career and to not just be successful, but to do something noteworthy for your community.

A career in management can be both rewarding and lucrative. By considering the above 6 points, you can make sure your management career is as successful as it should be.

You may have thought that interviews were all about getting factual information about you – they are not. Business schools interview you to gauge your personality.

It tests the interpersonal dynamics and rapport you create; the skill and maturity of your interaction; your honesty and openness; your confidence; your communication skills; your drive and purpose towards goals; and your knowledge of the school and passion for its program.

To do well in an interview, you need to respond well to behavioral questions. A factual question is, for example: “How many times have you been promoted in your job? A behavioral question would be: “How has moving up the corporate ladder changed your perspective on the workplace?”

In other words, behavioral questions delve behind the facts of your life to get to preferences and motivations. Other typical behavioral questions include: what it is about your career goals that motivates you? How does your leadership style reflect who you are? Do you think it is better to take risks or play safe? What is your preferred role in a group, and what does that say about you?

Be ready to talk specifics: know details about the school and its program. Have prepared examples and stories on possible major question topics: goals, leadership, achievements, strengths and weaknesses. Be ready for questions if your profile appears weak or trajectory unclear. Don’t be defensive about profile weaknesses. Admit them, state your planned remedy and move on.

If you don’t get a chance to ask questions naturally during the interview, you can expect to get a formal chance to ask questions at the end. Use your questions to sum up and refocus your interviewer on your strengths, goals and resonance with the program.

The most obvious field of entry for MBA graduates is in banking. MBA graduates can work as high level analysts and bank managers, working with individual clients and corporations on financial solutions for their needs. The reason why MBA graduates work so well in the banking field is that they have an understanding of how businesses work and their financial needs. In this way, MBA graduates can thrive in the banking field.

In addition to banking, MBA graduates work well in the financial sector. Stock brokerage firms and financial planning companies often hire MBA graduates to give them a stronger personnel group to deal with new clients. MBA graduates understand the perspective of businesses entering the stock market, opening up ownership of their company to the general public. As well, these graduates understand a wide variety of accounting and financial investment options that make them ideally prepared for financial planning positions.

Finally, some MBA graduates choose to open their own business and make their own way in the marketplace. The connections and the business acumen that MBA graduates develop make them capable of opening and succeeding in their own business endeavors. As well, many MBA graduates team with colleagues or investors on ventures to expand their potential income and improve the strength of their main business.
