MBA Papers : GMAT test

The GMAT test is the entrance exam for roughly 1,800 graduate business and management programs worldwide. GMAT scores are used by the admissions desks of just about all MBA programs to help select only the best of students. Not all MBA programs require a GMAT score to be submitted with the application however most of the well known and respected programs do require you to take the GMAT test.

The GMAT gauges skills of the prospective student in three categories.

1) Analytical Writing
2) Quantitative
3) Verbal

The typical prospective GMAT test applicant is an individual who has been in the professional work place for 3 to 5 years and is looking to progress up the ranks of their profession and feel that an MBA degree will help in their efforts. As the workplace becomes more and more competitive holding the designation of MBA will certainly help on your resume as well as moving up with your existing employer.

As the economy worsens and the unemployment rate increases more and more individuals are going back to school to acquire their MBA degree. In 2008 it is expected that more than 250,000 people will take the GMAT with that number climbing in 2009. With over 250,000 people taking the GMAT and submitting applications to their favorite MBA programs your score on the GMAT test has become very important.

There are 3 main factors in qualifying for an MBA program;

1) Undergraduate GPA
2) Work Experience
3) GMAT Score

Your undergraduate GPA is already set in stone and work experience will only take you so far. This now leaves the student with a lot riding on their GMAT score. Submitting your application with a 610 GMAT score or a 660 could make all the difference in the world on whether you are accepted or not. While most students have not taken a formal math course in 3+ years they may find themselves a little rusty when it comes to advanced math equations. In order to regain your math skill set from your under graduate days most students will utilize a multitude of resources in order to become more comfortable with the material presented on the GMAT test.
